To support the transition from the POSTNET barcode to the Intelligent Mail barcode, the USPSĀ® will conduct training seminars for mailers titled Migrating to IMb. Also get an update from USPS Chicago District Management on what new at USPS.

Beginning May 2011, to be eligible for automation discounts on your letter-size and flat-size mailpieces, you will need to start using the Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb") in place of the POSTNET" barcode. In May 2011, the POSTNET barcode will be ineligible for automation prices and the IMb must be used to claim automation prices with either the Full-Service or Basic option.

IMb will also be required on Business Reply Mail (BRM), Qualified Business Reply Mail (QBRM), Permit Reply Mail (PRM) and on Courtesy Reply Mail (CRM) that are enclosed in automation price mailings. We suggest you start converting your existing POSTNET barcoded BRM, QBRM, PRM, and CRM to IMb as soon as possible. To do this, you, or your company will first need a Mailer ID (MID) which is obtained online at http://usps.com, Business Customer Gateway. Instructions are enclosed. We will gladly provide the new IMb artwork after you have obtained your MID and returned the enclosed Artwork Request Form.

To support the transition from the POSTNET barcode to the Intelligent Mail barcode, the USPSĀ® will conduct training seminars for mailers titled Migrating to IMb. These seminars are intended to help you understand how to successfully generate and integrate the IMb to your mailings, and will focus on the IMb while providing a fundamental understanding of the requirements for the Basic and Full-Service options. In addition, these training sessions will provide information on how to use Intelligent Mail Services for First-Class Mail, Standard Mail, Periodicals letters and flats, and Reply Mail.

If you prepare your own mailings or are interested in learning more about the IMb, including knowing how to download fonts to print the IMb, this seminar is for you.

The Chicago District will conduct training seminars starting January 2011. The seminar(s) will be held at the Cardiss Collins P&DC located at 433 W Harrison St in the James Dillard Room.
The dates are as follow:
